New Referrals

Our clinic receives many referrals and appointment times are in high demand.

Some of the doctors have special expertise and for periods of time doctors may be fully booked and unable to accept new referrals.

You may be advised of this and with your own and your referring doctor’s agreement, you may be offered an appointment to see another doctor in the practice.

We try to be efficient in processing requests for consultation and to offer appointments as soon as possible. We aim for non-attendance to be rare so all available appointments are used productively seeing children.

Triage

This term refers to the urgency of the problem referred to by your child’s GP.  Our practice triages referrals according to medical urgency. Currently referrals are triaged on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays only. Some children will wait longer for an appointment.  Please see current wait times. Currently our waiting list for children with behavioural problems is very long, and new referrals for behavioural problems are unlikely to be offered an appointment within 12 months.

Choice of Doctors

All the doctors are highly regarded.   If you are comfortable, then our staff will be able to allocate an appointment with a doctor who has a shorter wait time.  If not, then the appointment will be allocated to your chosen doctor at their next appropriate appointment time if they are currently accepting referrals.

Cost

The cost of your consultation is payable in full at the time of the consultation. Payment may be by cash, credit card or EFTPOS.  Medicare will refund you a proportion of the fee.  If you have registered your bank details with Medicare we can process your claim on the day of your appointment and Medicare will refund you the amount within 48 hours. Health Funds do not provide a rebate for services in the rooms as they only cover inpatient services.

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please contact us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. Failure to attend without notification will result in a $150 non-attendance fee being charged. This fee must be paid before another appointment will be booked.

We try to be efficient in processing requests for consultation and to offer appointments as soon as possible. We aim for non-attendance to be rare so all available appointments are used productively seeing children.

To achieve this we request that new patients follow three steps:

1)  Fax (02-49526659) or email our clinic a referral from your doctor. Include two phone numbers and an email address we can use to call you back.

2) When we receive the referral we will text or email you back confirming its arrival. If this does not occur within a week please contact your GP to confirm the referral has been sent.

3)  We will contact you as soon as possible to discuss your appointment.  Maximum fee on the day will be $500.  Please see the fees page for more information.  After the call you will be sent a confirmation letter.

Note: We will attempt to call or leave a message three times. If we are unable to make contact, we will file the referral and inform your GP.
